I became interested in photographing birds in 2005. I had an interest prior to 2005 but did not own a digital camera capable of taking quality photos. In 2005 I purchased a Canon Digital Rebel XT which was an affordable way to take quality digital photos. In April 2009 I graduated to a Canon 40D and in September of 2010 purchased a Canon 7D. In April 2013 I rented a 5D mk ii and that was an expensive mistake. I purchased a 5D mk iii in May 2013. I think my photography has improved over the years and I hope you agree. Here's what I currently shoot with:
Canon 5d mk iv (purchased September 2016)

Besides bird photography and bird watching I also handle birds, as a volunteer, at the Sunriver Nature Center. I am no longer volunteering at The High Desert Museum. Here I am with Squawk the Red-tailed Hawk at The High Desert Museum. Photos by Larry Hanlon.
These are my photos. If you download them and use them (print, post to another site, etc.) you are stealing them! I will give permission to use my photos in certain situations. Ask! All photos on this web site can be purchased as prints or digital copies. I will also sell screen backgrounds for use on your computer for a very reasonable price. This site has thousands of bird photos.I have organized them by major birding trips or birding locally. I also have photos of various critters, butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies on their own pages or just mixed in with the birds. I have tried to start just putting birds on the local birding pages and all other "things" onto their own pages.

By the way, above is a view looking railroad east at the east end of Keddie. The Roundhouse is out of sight to the right. A 2-8-8-2 is on the inbound turntable lead.
